Four games, one mount core
Garry's Mod, Skate 3 straight off a PS3 disc, Kerbal Space Program and Subnautica all mount through the same core now, with every file readable.
Mounting is the whole idea behind Evil Engine. You point it at a game you own and its content shows up, without the engine ever shipping a single byte of it. This week the mount core got its first real workout, on four games that have basically nothing in common.
What mounts today
- Garry’s Mod from a real install, with every workshop addon on its own layer: 68,095 files across 28 layers, and a lookup takes about 50 nanoseconds
- Skate 3 straight from the PS3
.isowith nothing extracted: 31 EA BIG archives and 28,046 files that decompress as they’re opened - Kerbal Space Program, where the
GameDatawalk lands on exactly the 1,775 files KSP’s own log says it loaded - Subnautica, through its Addressables catalog, with all 5,469 bundles reading in full
What it doesn’t do yet
None of this reaches the screen yet. There’s no world and no player, and nothing converted makes it into Godot. Mounting is the foundation everything else stands on, so it had to come first.
